Edit Project Templates

At the moment, I have to have a “Project Template setup” project in my Hub, updates the settings as we keep working out our best practice, then create a new template with the updates, and delete the older version.

Can we have the function to edit the setting within Project Templates?

In my ideal world, I would like

    1. 1) able to overwrite old template (some may argue keeping version control is not a bad thing, I'm also leaning that way, but having the ability to do that is welcome)

    2. 2) when overwriting an older template, a warning will be displayed (if can, list out what is changed and deleted) and ask the maker to confirm

    3. 3) have a function to choose which project to push these updates, I do not necessarily want the template link to any project. I do not wish to have the project’s attributes to update every time the template update, because some projects may have project specific set up or refinement. Even better would be – if a project is inactive for a while, another warning message pop up to ask the user are they sure they want to perform this when the project is inactive.

Agree with the comments below. This would be a great help and time saver in managing all of my projects. You would need to exclude certain attributes or have the option to set that in the template. As our projects vary so would the types of zones.

Hi all just a few questions to explore the topic.

    • What would you like to happen when a project template is revised and some issue attributes or their values are removed? Would you like some sort of warning to be displayed so that the user making the change on the template understands that all that data will be permanently lost?

Agreed! I missed a few small things in my template, and don't want to have to rebuild the template from scratch :(

and apply that change to all the projects using that template.
Example: If 3 projects were created from the same project template, when you edit that project template all 3 projects get that modification. Like a new attribute or general setting change.
